Local physical therapist becomes board-certified specialist
The Sports Institute of Physical Therapy has announced that Matt Smalling has been recognized as a board-certified specialist in the field of sports physical therapy. Smalling is the only sports clinical specialist in the Humble/Kingwood community, and there are nine others with this designation in the greater Houston area, according to a press release. To obtain board certification, a candidate must submit evidence of required clinical practice in a specialty area. Each must also complete a rigorous written examination, demonstrating specialized knowledge and advanced clinical proficiency. Smalling is a member of the American Society of Shoulder and Elbow Therapists and is a certified pitching instructor through the National Pitching Association. Sports Institute of Physical Therapy has been serving the region since 2001. It is located at 7155 Atascocita Road in Humble. For more information, call 281-812-8304 or visit www.sipthome.com.
