Tomball Police arrest suspects in conjunction with Walmart theft
Tomball Police arrested Stephanie Chavez, Deann Drab, Matilda Vargas, Brandy Hernandez and Randall Contreras from the Houston area during a traffic stop on June 20 and charged the five with organized retail theft, according to a press release.
The five are accused of taking items from the Walmart store at 27650 Tomball Parkway in Tomball.
Store employees reported a theft around 4:30 p.m. June 20 and provided descriptions of those they said took the property as well as a description of their vehicle.
Tomball officers and detectives later stopped the vehicle and arrested the five. Officers also recovered stolen property taken from several Walmart stores.
Detectives obtained physical evidence that linked Chavez, Drab, Vargas, Hernandez and Contreras to a large theft ring that has been operating for more than two years.
After being charged in the Harris County 182nd District Court, bonds for Drab, Vargas, Hernandez and Contreras were set at $5,000. Chavez's bond was set at $10,000.
The five are in the Harris County Jail awaiting their first court appearance.
