Tomball alum scores twice in Lookouts loss
Kyle Douglas Russell, a 2005 graduate of Tomball High School, went 1-2 with two runs scored, but it wasn't enough as the Chattanooga Lookouts fell 6-4 to the Montgomery Biscuits in minor league baseball action on Monday.
At Tomball, Russell was a second-team high school all-American as a senior.
He played three seasons of college baseball at the University of Texas appearing in 175 career games for the Longhorns, hitting .306 overall.
Russell was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the fourth round, 142nd overall, of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft but elected to return to Texas for his junior season. In 2008, Russell hit .296 with 19 home runs and 56 RBI, and he was named MVP of the Houston Regional of the NCAA tournament.
He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round, 93th overall, of the 2008 draft and began his professional career with Ogden of the Pioneer League.
